This year, we were lucky that the Easter rentals and sales were good to us. The money that we made in April, mostly through renting Easter Bunny and passion play costumes, went to replace the 20+ year old roof on the work and storage rooms. The spring storms in the Tennessee Valley have been quite sever the last few years, but the high winds that recently swept through the area were the last straw. I noticed wet boxes in the store room the morning after the largest one. Luckily, all the costumes in the boxes are packed in plastic and I found them fast enough to unpack everything and lay them out to dry. It was a big mess, but no harm done to the stock.
Why am I posting about this? Because I wanted people to understand that
Beauty and the Beast is a small business owned and operated by a Mother and Daughter. Two women struggling to provide a much needed service to a community where we have lived all of our lives. When you rent or purchase something from us, you are literally putting a roof over our the heads of your neighbor. We are not some big, faceless corporation. We are Mary and Susan, your neighbors and to many, your friends. We do the best we can to provide high quality products at the lowest possible prices to everyone, not just to a few.
